I really used to like you Pei Wei. I've tried several of your restaurants and consistently (over the last year) you have disappointed. Today, this Boca trip induced me to write a review. I do like the honey seared veggies and tofu dish. However, the tofu needs to be cooked way more. It was mushy and only the outside slices were seared. Not sure that I like it served in a bowl, rather than plated side by side like before. However, that might be something to just get used to. The honey seared sauce is my favorite and the veggies were cooked well. The time. It was not busy (no wait in line and empty tables) and it took a little less than 20 minutes to receive one entree. It's just not cool for business lunch time. I would understand if there were lots of people ahead of me, but this seems to be an issue at other Pei Weis too. I will say the cleanliness was better here than I have been experiencing at the Fort Lauderdale stores. Most have sticky floors, unkept tables, and hurried staff that barely have time to get the food out. I do like the basket of fortune cookies. Perhaps the fortune should read - Life is too short to waste your time on mediocre things. Pei Wei, you've got a lot of potential. Hope things turn around.

I think they are pre-cooking the meats. Tried Kung Pao chicken and it tasted very salty and dark. Meat was tough, like it was cooked 2x. Same with Dan Dan Noodles. Everything tastes like cooked on 'burnt oil'. I love PF Changs and order these dishes all the time, they are wonderful when cooked right, which they always are at Changs.

Saturday night, last minute went to P.F Changs... There was a 40 minute wait... So searched chineese food near me. Found Pei Wei, had never been here so thought I would give it a try. The three of us ordered teriyaki, Kung pao chicken and honey seared chicken.... Oh and the new king pao sushi roll. Everything was amazing... The kung pao was my favorite. It was half the price of P.F Changs and just as good. The nice gentlemen that took our order was very helpful in suggesting things to try and finding my new rewards account that I had created in the car on the way there. Will be visiting again soon. after being such a fan of P.F. Changs, Pie Wei has done nothing other disappoint me. The majority of food here is just bad down to one time i ordered a soup that literally tasted like dog food. The only upside is that the staff is great

Well, either I ordered the right thing, and my fellow Yelpers didn't, or I just got lucky and came on a good day, but I was very pleased with my Pei Wei meal. Take a look at my pictures, there is a good balance of the Thai Dynamite Chicken entree and the brown rice, not a meager portion of the entree in comparison to the rice, as someone else mentioned in their review. There is a good variety of color and vegetables too. If you like P.F. Chang's but don't have the time to sit around and wait for your meal to come out and if you want something less formal and cheaper, then Pei Wei is your answer. Since Pei Wei's parent company is P.F. Chang's, you can expect similar quality, but different menu choices when ordering from them. Whereas P.F. Chang's is strictly Chinese, Pei Wei offers such options as sushi and Thai dishes. By the way, they also offer Gluten-free options, kid's menus, and vegetarian options. It is evident that there is something for everyone, and for less than $10, you can walk out of there with a hefty dinner that isn't dripping in fat and has some nutritional value. My friend had never been to a Pei Wei, and I nudged him to give it a try, as I had eaten it once in Kendall and liked it. Before going on our trip to New York, we decided to have dinner here, as we had a very early morning flight and could not afford to waste time with waiters and slow kitchen turnaround. It was a couple of blocks away from his place, but he had never eaten here. We entered and browsed the menu. He liked the prices, and the different sauce and vegetable combinations and options, so that already made a good impression. There was perhaps 1 person in line before us, so waiting to place our order was not an issue. We got our food pretty quickly. He ordered a hot and sour soup and the sweet and sour beef, and I ordered the Thai wonton soup and Thai dynamite chicken. The soup was good, unlike any other wonton soups I'd had, as it had Thai basil and lemongrass, different from your standard wonton soup. It had three wonton noodles, which is a reasonable amount in conjunction with the small cup. My entree was very tasty, hot, and with crunchy vegetables. I was very pleased. My friend said his beef was tender, and you know beef can be hit or miss at Asian places. He could not even finish his entree because he had gotten full. "He likes it! Hey, Mikey!" It seems my friend liked it! He now goes here at least once a week or every 2 weeks if he doesn't feel like cooking at home. I wish there were a closer location to me (the closest is about 10 miles and in the parking nightmare that is Coral Gables, ugh). It's a good option for grab and go when you're not wanting to sit around waiting for delivery and paying a tip.

Excellent food and the customer service and people working at this location were incredible. No I don't work there this is not a fake post. Truly impressed this time I went and I've gone several times. Great tip: if you get a stir fry wit rice ask for it tossed and all the sauce and the whole platter will already be mixed in the rice. You'll be happy you did.

A few weekends ago I stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I have not been to a Pei Wei in a few years & I remembered it being good. Times change... and now it really wasn't that good. Not as good as I remembered anyway. My friend and I shared the Hot & Sour Soup because the bowl is gigantic. Definitely enough for two people to share. I loved the soup. It was full of flavor & without a doubt I would order it again. I ordered two Crab Wontons. You can buy them by the piece which is perfect if you do not want a full order. They had bits of scallions in it & a lot of crab. Not sure if the crab was real or imitation but they were very good. I ordered the large Pei Wei Spicy meal with beef. I am glad I ordered the large portion because my plate was 90% rice & a very small portion of my main dish. This dish had zero flavor. I tried adding hot chili oil, duck sauce, soy sauce...just about anything to give it some flavor but nothing helped. The fried rice was basically white rice with a little soy sauce & it was clumpy. The carrots & snap peas were not cooked enough so I really just ate the small amount of beef that was in the dish. My friend ordered the large Kung Pao Chicken with brown rice. He also received a small portion but not as small as mine. His dish was quite tasty. He thought his meal was good. I tasted his chicken & it tasted good to me too. At least it had some flavor unlike my dish which was bland & flavorless. I probably will not return. Just so many other places in the area that are so much better & give you a better value for your money. The highlight of my meal was the free standing Coke machine.

I came in to order a takeout order tonight and was greeted with smiles and chipper attitudes from all of the staff. My ordering process was great. And then.... As I was waiting, the manager, a shorter lady with a long blonde pony tail came out and started barking loudly and offensively to the kitchen staff IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS. It was because of something being slightly smoky but nothing anyone had noticed until she loudly complained. It was super unprofessional and made everyone embarrassed. As if that wasn't bad enough, the restaurant was basically empty except for a few calm customers waiting for their orders, yet she began furiously running around barking and reprimanding everyone for basically no reason, again, in front of all the customers. I have worked in restaurants my entire life and all I kept thinking was how I would never want to work in that environment ever... Or would quit after being treated so condescendingly by someone. Not the way to boost the workplace moral. I give them 2 stars ONLY because the other staff was great. She needed to take a serious chill pill.

Stopped by for lunch and had a small steamed honey seared chicken with brown rice. It was a great meal. This place has been solid since I've been coming. I didn't like that the silverware was slightly dirty. Everything else beside that was on point.

Good price for food freshly made. I love their pad Thai! Is suitable for vegetarians. My favorite dish it's the Vegetables and Tofu PadThai. When ordering take out make sure to ask for utensils and napkins. No tips

I guess owned by PF Chang at 1/2 the price -quick cheap american""'whatever fusion asian food""- been few times- crab wontons very good-- egg rolls- good but - a little soggy with a weird mustard dipping sauce--yuk- NO Duck sauce( plum sauce) is in the restaurant? ever-- why? never heard of that Chicken Dynamite Style- horrible- had no spice or flavor- had that GAS caught on fire oil taste--that has to be the worst taste !- brought it back and it came out- i guess,, right the second time but still lacked any WOW factor flavor-- -very helpful workers! fried rice was a little to under cooked again most of the food lack any kind of rich flavor the entrees are never sauced enough-dryish-- BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A LAYER OF WOK OIL ON BOTTOM PLATE - NICE BONUS HUH? HAHA had other items- the same- under flavored- UNDER SAUCED- EXCEPT OIL ON BOTTOM OF DISH THEY LOVE OVERLOADING THERE DISHES WITH THE DARK GREEN END OF SCALLION, THERE ARE ALWAYS MANY LONG,, I MEAN 3 INCH PIECES IN THERE FOOD NO MATTER WHAT U ORDER---THERE PULL OUTS,, WHO EATS THOSE ANYWAY-? THERE BIG WITH THAT SWEET RED CHILI SAUCE--OK WE LIKE BUT ITS WAY OVERDONE NOW - THAT SAUCE BTW IS FULL OF MSG AND FAKE GARLIC its ok for quick cheap decent quality food

Some of my favorite things in life seem to always lead me to Asian food. This chain is owned by PF Changs. It offers tons of food, which can cater almost any dish for a vegetarian. For me, that is striking gold. When you walk into one of these establishments, head for the counter. Once you place an order and pay, they give you a red plastic number. The number goes strategically on a metal stand, so the service staff knows where to bring it. For drinks, they have a fancy fountain coca cola machine. I tend to fill up my cup with the most sugary drink possible, so I can complain later about gaining weight. Overall, this place hits the top of my charts for quick asian food. I am a fan of the honey seared tofu (extra tofu) with a side of brown rice and veggies. I am salivating just thinking about this.

One of my favorite places to go for a quick style dinner! I always order the ginger broccoli with tofu and vegetables-delicious! One time i tasted my friends chicken pad thai and it was out of this world-a spicy peanut taste! My sister and dad have ordered the lettuce wraps multiple times which are always yummy. Big portions, decent prices, fresh taste and good quality food. The flavor compares to any upscale restaurant with this type of food. The atmosphere of pei Wei is also great, very modern and authentic. Lately I've been eating here once a week, so I'd definitely recommend it!

This place is pretty good . Customer service is great. Left my iphone there and server Kyler was nice enough to return it . I will be returning when I'm in Florida again..

It's a cool concept, but the quality of the food is definitely overrated. They have an open kitchen right next to the dining room and you can see/feel the flames even from across the room. Owned by P.F. Changs, Pei Wei serves several of the same dishes you'd find at P.F. Changs. Granted it's for a lower price, so you can expect the quality of the food to be lower as well. For example, the Mongolian beaf at P.F. Changs can't even be compared to the one at Pei Wei! (They also don't have waiter service-- they just serve your food and the drink and stuff is on your own.) The spring rolls are very good!! But stay away from the Sweet and Sour chicken. I don't know what it is, but it kinda tastes like windex. I've actually ordered it three times because I always forget and it always has that weird taste! They have a delicious chocolate chip cookie that's usually fresh so I definitely recommend it! If you're with a couple of (young) people and looking to have a quick and affordable lunch/dinner, Pei Wei isn't a bad idea. But if you're in the mood for great Asian food--or good food in general-- I'd look elsewhere.

Such an awesome, fast food Asian diner. It's like PF Chang's express (I'm pretty sure its an extension of PF Chang's), but the food is always excellent. The take-out service is great because it's extremely quick and the food tastes just as good. I always got food to-go. You order at the front, you get a number, which you put on your table, and the server brings the food over to you, usually in less then 10 minutes..hot and fresh! I always get the Tai Dynamite chicken, which is awesome with brown rice! A little spicy. Pad Thai is something that has been recommended to me, but i havnt tried it yet. also the mango chicken is very good too. If you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner, check this place out! And they are all the same, so dont worry about where you go.

I was skeptical at first to try Pei Wei since it was part of the P.F. Chang's chain. However, it was a much cheaper and tastier alternative to P.F.C. Recently started to crave Pei Wei more and more. I'm not a huge fan of Americanized Chinese/Thai/Japanese/Vietnamese food, but Pei Wei's Kung Pao Chicken and Thai Wonton Soup have me going back for more. Once you walk in you go up to the counter to order food and drinks. A number is given to you and you go find an empty table and place the number on top of the chopstick holder. An employee will bring the food out to you in no time at all. The staff is friendly and will ask how everything is. When you're done with your meal, someone will come take your plate away or ask if you need a to-go container. I don't know if you're suppose to tip, sometimes I see people leave a dollar or two and other times nothing. If I really enjoyed myself I will leave a dollar. Overall, a good place to go for some cheap and decent food.

Pretty decent chain Asian fare with friendly staff behind the counter. Think the fast food equivalent of P.F. Chang's, its sister company. They will, however, make things suitably spicy if you ask the right way; I usually will ask for "extra extra spicy" and mention the need for sinus clearing to get it right.

I feel the need to share this public service announcement because the reviews misled us. To be fair, I'm picky and skeptical of non-authentic places. I'm not a huge fan of Americanized Chinese food or PF Changs. But PF Changs is decent if overpriced. Our experience at Pei Wei's was awful, and I've been dragged to some pretty bad asian buffets in florida. The only decent dish we tried was the dan dan noodles. I ordered it in NY later just to prove I wasnt crazy and that the only thing these dishes had in common was the name. We also ordered the spicy korean beef expecting it to be like bulgogi. I think the marinade was off and the meat was crispy coated, The other dish was even worse, the sauce was drowning the dish so we used the rice to wipe off the sauce. Of course this is Boca so maybe this is just how everyone likes their fake asian food. There was a huge wait to order too. I'm just glad we didnt take my dad here or he would have been pissed,

Quality food, quick and friendly service and nice quantities. Mongolian Beef/spring rolls/lettuce wraps are the favorites for us.

Good food at reasonable prices. The Pad Thai is good when you ask them to make it extra spicy. I tried the spicy Korean but something was missing. Sugar. I'm Korean and I can see what they were going for but it needed some sweetness with the spiciness. Everything I've had there were pretty good and consistent. I still miss the take out Chinese spots in NY but I guess this will do for now.

I like this kind of food. Pei Wei is decent, cheap and fast. The Boca location has good service, but the food quality....not as fresh or seasoned as well as other locations. Wellington is pretty good though.

  • Nytimes R.

As a New Yorker and an avid traveler (And food Critic) NYC has some of the best Asian foods worldwide, I must say that Pei Wei is an Oasis in a desert of bad Chinese/Asian restaurants in the area. (forget Uncle Tais- It is inferior and overpriced) Pei Weis prices are reasonable, the food is fresh and tasty.

The Eats: After it became a staple, I became a little less bedazzled by it all. They have great spicy Dan Dan noodles and I like that they add new flavor profiles once in a while. A little less quality than I originally assumed. One waiter told us a gross fact about the chicken from the lettuce wraps (and now I don't order them anywhere). The Experience: Super cas and easy for quick Asian to hit the spot The Damage: Way cheaper than PF Changes

If I were in a big city with access to many really good Asian food options, I would probably give it 3 stars - but for Boca Raton, it gets 4 stars. They just introduced their black pepper chicken - it is very good. I hope they keep it as a permanent addition to their menu. I also enjoy their Mandarin Kung Pow chicken and Pei Wei spicy chicken. I do a lot of online ordering for take-out and I really appreciate the ability to customize your order - not just spicy vs. mild but each ingredient becomes an option. If I don't like green peppers in the dish, I can easily exclude them. The website is very user friendly. My only criticism deals with their ability to get to-go orders out the door. When they are busy, your order can sit on the counter (getting cold) for 5-10 minutes while they wait on other customers or answer the phone. They really need a dedicated person who delivers the take-out orders to the customer as it comes out of the kitchen.

  • Thais A.

They try. They fail. it's overrated. The food is very greasy, and oily. It's not bad, but it's not good either. It is way better than Panda Express though, I'll definitely give them that much. The waiter service is a weird concept because I never know if i'm suppose to tip them or not. Very awkward since you pay at the cashier before you sit down. This is more of a younger crowed place to eat. I wouldn't come here with my grandparents. Good place to come with a group of friends though, and they can accommodate bigger parties.

Pei Wei is the quicker, and a bit cheaper cousin of parent P.F. Chang's China Bistros So the good news is that the food is really outstanding. The chefs are Changs trained and deliver some of the tastiest Chinese dishes that I've had in a long time. The won-ton soup, normally a snooze, is a taste sensation here. I've been trying to figure out what they do to the fresh broth to give it that zip. If you order one of the items that is fried/braised, it will be like all fried/braised items at a Chinese restaurant, except that it, in this case, it is succulent and perfectly crispy because everything is made to order. I don't generally even like fried foods. My wife likes sweet and sour chicken. I tried a couple of pieces and it was AWESOME. If you like hot/spicy, they can do up some nice menu choices. They also offer brown rice, and a pick of whatever meat (or not) you like on just about any dish. The format is the thing. Short waits, reasonable prices, and a clean and comfortable environment. Think Panera meets P.F. Changs... The atmosphere is great for a low-end restaurant. You do wait in line to order, and get a number and put it on your table. One of the wait staff will bring your food to your table. They just don't take orders. The elegant wood and granite definitely lift the place up over comparable offerings like Panda Express, where the food SUCKS and the plastic trays are low-brow at best. I have people in the family who aren't even big Asian food lovers who walked out of there suitably impressed. The location opened in July 2007. I think it was a bad choice for the first unit here in Boca (Federal and 20th in that remodeled hermit crab Fifth Avenue shops) as it is a very seasonal neigborhood and the shopping center is better known for Jersey Mikes and McDonald's than any quality restaurants, but I understand several other units are under construction in the area. A fine place for lunch, or if you're younger or on a budget, for a nice evening out. Try it. You'll be happy you did. If you love P.F. Changs, you may find that, while the menu is a bit more limited, the food here is made a lot better because there are more people cooking for fewer patrons... I loved it!

Pei Wei is now one of my favorite places to go for lunch. They have big portions and the food tastes great - my favorite dish is the Mandarin Kung Pao Beef. Co-workers all like the place and it's a place usually suggested, now by me, whenever we go out for lunch. The good: -Big portions and delicious food - they're also presented well when brough to you. -Reasonable prices compared to the rest of Boca - under $10 for lunch is usual for me - co-workers love the price. -Atmosphere is casual and pleasant - you can notice the work they put into decorating - everything just seems in-place. -The wait is fast even when there's a line of people during lunch. -There's a separate take-out counter so take-outs are fast too. -Parking is decent since it's in a shopping area. The minuses: -Service may be variable - sometimes they're cheerful and attentive - other times they seem to just be trying to push you through. It just depends on who's working at the time. -A/C vents direct cold air directly in the middle seating area, so avoid the middle area.

This is great fast food, so much healthier than Mickey D's, etc. if you want to compare! I like that the counter person is always so accommodating and willing to be patient and take my customized order - sauce on side, different veggies changed up ( with no extra charge like their big sis PF does when i order there!)I also ask for the complimentary crispy noodles which PF Chang's also has(a little- known secret) and they taste better than PF's too! That with the comp cilantro and I have a delicious meal! Most people also don't know about joining PFChang's website for an additonal 10% off the bill each time you eat at PF Chang's or you can ask the manager at PF's for the card. Pet Wei's prices so reasonable and the service friendly, this food is fresh, albeit a little oily, I noticed sometimes, so I will ask for less oil next time and I bet they will heed my order! All in all I prefer Pei Wei Diner to PF Chang's- but the desserts are sadly what is missing.. and certain Gluten Free dishes like Mongolian Beef and GF dome cake (which my spouse enjoys!)

The food is good--not great. It's a nice place to go for a relatively cheap and quick meal. If you like the food at PF Chang's, you'll like Pei Wei. They're also opening a second one in West Boca at Palmetto and Powerline.

I think I may have caught them on a bad day. The service was ok...not overly friendly but not overly attentive. I had been working all day and then commuted home (3 hour plane ride). I was exhausted and hungry. I had heard many good things about the place and was dying to try it out. I ordered Crab Wontons and Chicken Fried Rice to go. I don't care if you guys laugh at me but I LOVE chicken fried rice...sure its not adventurous but whatever. I got my order and couldn't wait to get home and dig in. I had the Crab Wontons first and they were simply amazing. When I opened the container with my rice I thought, "this looks kinda gross!" I figured maybe it just looked like crap but would probably taste great. WRONG!! How do I explain how awful this was?? The rice was gooey and clumpy. I tried to make myself eat it but after a few forkfuls I gave up. Normally, I would have returned it but I was so tired I said forget it and went to bed.

Ok I was reading other reviews comparing Pei-Wei to Pf Changs.. And i have to disagree I actually think Pei-Wei is better.... I am in love with there lettuce wraps.. They are so fresh and delicious.. I cant get enough of them... I usually get it to go and make them at home... The servings are huge the food is fresh and everything tastes great... And the best thing is at pei wei you dont have 2 wait 2hrs to get seated or service....

  • Dani L.

I agree with other reviewers that this is the quick, cheap and easy way to get PF Chang food. Thank god there is no 120 minute waits going on here like at their sister restaurant on Glades. (I kid you not, I have been quoted that before) Take out is great with a separate entrance and never takes more then 15 mins. Decent selection of wines by the glass. The kids meals are a great deal with good sized portions and a drink for $4 - awesome considering that PF Changs doesn't offer KIDS menu at all! Only negative I have here (hence the 4 stars) is that I am a huge fan of Mongolian Beef and I think PF Changs does it a bit better then Pei Wei. The other meals all seem spot on in comparisons except this one. Maybe I am crazy but part of that dish is how thin the beef is sliced and then pan fried .. and Pei Wei seem to use way too big of pieces of meat and so its not as crunchy. I know, a bit picky, but being honest :)

This is my favorite Chinese food in S. Florida. I know - I know... its a chain! Still - can't deny it. The other local Chinese food is really bad, and Pei Wei does a great job with what they offer. It is a great takeout source. The menu has plenty of options, the food always tastes great, and the prices are very reasonable. Recently they turned a bad situation during a power outage into a great reason for me to come back!

i used to go here all the time, twice a week, but quit going because they are not consistent. the portions differ in size. you get more if you eat in. to go, your portion could be less than half, depending on who is working. i order a salad sometimes and sometimes the container is about 1/3 full and sometimes it's stuffed to the max. and, sometimes they forget to add seasoning or sauce to to your stir fry meal. always check your bag because they always forget sauce, won tons and salad dressing. the crab wontons and egg rolls are always good, if you just want a snack. oh, and if you order the tofu, it is full of msg, even though the menu says they do not use it. i am allergic to msg and got sick instantly after eating the tofu.

  • Fran B.

I also think Pei Wei is much better than PF Changs (especially the one on Glades Road, food is so bland there.) It's not really authentic Asian, but the taste is pretty good for a fast Asian-style lunch or dinner. I like to go there because they don't put MSG in the food, or at least I didn't feel that awful MSG-side effects after I ate there. I like to get their chicken in lettuce cups (appetizer) as a light lunch. Some of their spicy dishes can get really hot, they aren't kidding when they put the little chili pepper sign next to the item, but you can always put out the fire with their flavored tea. The Vietnamese style summer rolls are a little skimpy on the meat, last time I had it was more just veggies and noodles. This is one of those places that you placed your order and get a plastic number card to clip it on your tabletop and the waiters will deliver the food to your table. You have to fetch your own utensils from the counter.

Gross. Was looking for a quicky half-way decent semi-fast food chinese joint and stumbled across this. It was my first and last time visiting. Want anything resembling "Asian" food? Don't go here. You're better off trying to make an Asian cousine from scratch from your own kitchen.

If you are looking for good Asian food made fast, look no further. This is the place to go. You order via the printed menu or menu posted in the restaurant. Under each item, there is a description of what ingredients are in each dish. A thin red pepper next to a dish specifies the dish as hot and spicy. The menu is the same from opening to closing. On this occasion, I ordered the hot and sour soup. It was delicious and seasoned just right. It was loaded with chicken, tofu, bamboo shoots. and my favorite, Chinese Black Mushrooms. My wife ordered the wonton soup, Thai style made with spinach, wontons and lemongrass. It too was delicious. It reminded me of eating Vietnamese food. They use lemongrass in their food preparations. Next up for me was ginger broccoli with steak which was seasoned to perfection. My wife had the Teriyaki with shrimp. Another great dish. It should noted that. entrees can be ordered as small or regular, with brown or white rice, and in different styles like teriyaki, orange peel, Mongolian etc. All in all , there are twelve different styles to choose from. They also serve rice bowls with choice of protein, soups, salads and appetizers. They also provide gluten free, low salt and low fat items. Desserts are limited to cookies only. This is one of my favorite places to go. I have never been disappointed. Try it, I'm sure you will like it too.

The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions.
